It begins with a log

Timber recently felled by arborists or storms has softer wood fibers that can be efficiently shaped with hand tools. Carrying out most, and sometimes all, of the work while the wood has a high moisture content is what gives this form of carpentry the name “green woodworking.”

Round wood is sawn to length and split into billets. Those billets are shaped with an axe and/or drawknife before final refinement with knives.

Inspired by the common wood culture and traditions of Scandinavia

My work is a genuine exploration of the vast history of wood culture throughout Europe, particularly Scandinavia. The essence of functional design behind these household items is fascinating to me and serves as motivation to create beautiful and useful objects for everyday use and special occasions.
